Welcome to Digeum—the Digest of Electronic Underground Music. Some time ago, my friend, Hypocalypse, and I decided we wanted to do something to create a community of electronic underground music aficionados. We are embarking on this mission in September 2005. It’s got us both all worked up and ready to take on the world.
Both of us have some radio experience and, with the explosion of Podcasting into the public consciousness, we thought we might like to give that a try as well. Our focus is on electronic music outside of the mainstream—ambient, downtempo, trip-hop, house, garage, techno, trance, drum & bass, jungle, IDM—the whole megalithic supergenre that gets pigeonholed by some as “electronica” (how I hate that word!) or dance music (that’s better).
We’re definitely going to screw every conceivable thing up that can possibly be screwed up, but we hope that you’ll bear with us as we figure out what we’re doing and present some reviews, podcasts, and music that may or may not be very well written.
Special thanks to Eric Rice, who has extended an invitation for us to join the KSSX crew. We’re looking forward to the adventure.
